Snakes don't shed their scales individually - but then they don't generally have dimensional pockets in their bellies either, so we can assume that this Forever Snake doesn't need to follow the physical rules of a regular serpent.

If the "Snake's" attempt to copy its appearance left him in that sorry state then that says something about the true level of his capabilities.

As for Blossom, learning of her true form isn't surprising after what happened with Stormy.

Naturally! And we two are the best candidates for attempting this. Though Rubato-senpai has told me he knows how to speak snake if it cannot understand human-- I am sorry, I mean a more common tongue.

If it is a Holy Beast, it might possess answers that will help us uncover the mysteries of this place.

I might be able to recall some of the snake language, though it can be difficult to do around my teeth... Animal linguistics is part of our regular curriculum, after all.

[And snakes can often be found on mountain trails, so he'd have some interest.]

But even if we could communicate with it, I'm not sure what we could offer it. What would it find worth stopping for when it can chew through stone like it's nothing?

It would be difficult to do that without going through its tunnels.

Rubato-senpai has the ability to track someone, does he not? Perhaps with his aid, we might have a little better direction.

That doesn't rule out having to go through long stretches of tunnel. And if he comes out into the mist anywhere we will immediately lose all sense of direction. I don't think even Rubato could help with that.

I still feel we ought to initiate some sort of communication with it. If it is a Holy Beast, or we can learn about the Weeds and their leader's intentions, anything at all would be advantageous for us.

... I spoke to Blossom a bit myself earlier. According to her, Holy Beasts are another source of magic in this place. But she was also hesitant to speak on the subject, believing it to be a worse option than even demon summoning.

If the serpent falls into that category, the chances of it being remotely interested in our comparatively small struggles is likely slim.

Then... Bluebell is already in contact with some Holy Beasts. Not this serpent, obviously. And I have not spoken to them personally myself, yet. I believe that Fantasia-san wishes for us to all go on a sort of field trip, of sorts, and meet them as a flock.

But from what I have been told, they have given us a sort of boon? What, I do not know yet. But Bluebell specifically has a good relationship with them. So... I suppose that while Blossom might say differently, I do not actually have any faith in her judgment more often than not.

I suppose, though... I could see about speaking with them and seeing what they say regarding The Forever Snake.
